Vinay Sahasrabuddhe

Vinay Sahasrabuddhe was an Indian politician, author, and social thinker with a rich academic background. His critical and analytical thinking played a vital role in shaping the ideological and policy discourse of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Born and brought up in Nagpur, he developed a deep interest in political thought from an early age and went on to earn a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Mumbai. His association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shaped his ideas on governance, ethics, and nation-building, which later became the foundation of his political philosophy. As a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha representing Maharashtra (2016–2022), Sahasrabuddhe earned wide respect for his intellectual clarity and constructive participation in parliamentary debates. He also served as the President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), where he worked to strengthen India’s cultural diplomacy and promote the country’s soft power globally. Within the BJP, he held the position of National Vice President, guiding ideological and training programs for party workers. Apart from his political career, he authored several books and essays on governance, ethics, and democracy, including Beyond a Billion Ballots and The Innovation Republic. Remembered as a scholar-politician, Sahasrabuddhe’s life reflected a rare combination of intellect, humility, and devotion to public service.
