Sanjay Shephard

Sanjay Shepherd has chosen to live life not by reading its chapters, but by walking through them. His love for literature first took root during his days at Navodaya Vidyalaya, later blossoming into a lifelong passion for travel and storytelling. With degrees in Mass Communication and Museology, he ventured into creative fields, working with Balaji Telefilms, Radio Mirchi, and BBC Travel. Yet, beyond the professional realm, his heart found its true rhythm in exploring the world. Having journeyed through twenty-four countries, Sanjay weaves his experiences of people, places, and nature into writings that celebrate the poetry of travel and the soul of humanity. Since 2016, Sanjay has pursued the path of an independent travel writer, regularly contributing to publications like The Times of India, NDTV, Hindustan Times, and Rajasthan Patrika. His widely read Hindi blog, “Strolling Media,” captures stories that linger long after the journey ends. As an author, he has penned four novels — Zindagi Zero Mile (2023), Ek Syah Firdous (2024), Shifr Ka Safar (2025), and the forthcoming Devtaon Ka Desh (2026, National Book Trust). Recipient of the Vishnu Prabhakar Sahitya Samman (2024) and the India Achiever Award (2020), Sanjay Shepherd continues to stand out as a writer who turns every journey into literature, and every page into a voyage of life.

संजय शेफ़र्ड : शब्द और यात्राओं का संगम गोरखपुर में 8 अक्तूबर 1985 को जन्मे संजय शेफ़र्ड ने जीवन को किताब की तरह नहीं, बल्कि यात्रा की तरह जिया। नवोदय विद्यालय में पढ़ाई के दौरान साहित्य का जो बीज मन में पड़ा, वह आगे चलकर लेखन और यात्राओं में खिल उठा। मास कम्युनिकेशन और म्यूजियोलॉजी में उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के बाद उन्होंने बालाजी टेलीफिल्म्स, रेडियो मिर्ची और बीबीसी ट्रेवल में काम किया, पर मन सदा घूमने और लिखने में ही रमा रहा। चौबीस देशों की यात्रा कर चुके संजय के लेखन में लोक, जीवन और प्रकृति की सुगंध मिलती है। 2016 से वे स्वतंत्र रूप से यात्रा और लेखन कर रहे हैं। टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया, एनडीटीवी, हिन्दुस्तान टाइम्स, राजस्थान पत्रिका जैसी पत्रिकाओं में नियमित लेखन करते हैं। अब तक उनके चार उपन्यास प्रकाशित हो चुके हैं — जिंदगी ज़ीरो माइल (2023), एक स्याह फिरदौस (2024), शिफ़र का सफ़र (2025) और प्रकाशाधीन देवताओं का देश (2026, नेशनल बुक ट्रस्ट)। उन्हें विष्णु प्रभाकर साहित्य सम्मान 2024 और इंडिया एचीवर अवार्ड 2020 से सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। संजय शेफ़र्ड उन विरले लेखकों में हैं जो जीवन को यात्राओं से और यात्राओं को शब्दों से अर्थ देते हैं।
